Death
On April 17, 2011, Perez had just finished a show in Dagupan and was riding an ABS-CBN van on his way home with his father and 4 others.[9] The driver of the van tried to overtake a trailer truck but collided with a Partas provincial passenger bus along McArthur Highway in Barangay San Julian, Paniqui Tarlac. The cause of his death, according to reports, is "multiple head injuries." [10]
ABS-CBN filed a case of reckless imprudence on the van driver from of Southbend Express Services, Inc., a service contractor of ABS-CBN.[11]
Perez's family wanted to donate his eyes to blind singer Fatima Soriano after his mother saw her interview with Boy Abunda in The Bottomline. Unfortunately, Soriano's doctor explained that it is not possible to transplant the corneas because the cause of her blindness are dysfunctional retinas, not her corneas. [12] Perez's corneas were eventually donated to a 28-year-old man and an 8-year old-boy.[13]
Before he died, Perez has finished taping for Maalaala Mo Kaya, set to be aired on April 30, 2011.
Interment will be on April 26, Tuesday at the Manila Memorial Park Paranaque. Mass will be held at Christ the King Parish in Greenmeadows around 9am.
